Signing off from what was...

an AWESOME YEAR for DMB Videography. We can't thank our clients this past year enough for all of the wonderful experiences you have given us. New places to work, many new faces to greet, and the opportunity to work with many new wedding professionals we call our colleagues and in many cases friends.

I usually say I am sad to see a year end - I am one of those sappy people that cry when the ball drops for some unforeseen reason - but for strangely, this year I am filled with hope and excitement for 2010. Many people are reflecting on the negative things that happened this year and in this decade (and yes, there has been plenty of negatives), but for me, I just think 2010 is going to be a great year!

Thank you again to our past clients and many many MANY thanks to our colleagues that work along side us and help us in many different aspects of our job. We look forward to the brides and grooms and other clients that we will have the opportunity to work with in 2010 and wish all of you a very happy and safe NEW YEAR!

Signing off to spend time with family and friends as we ring in 2010!!!!
(got any awesome resolutions you want to share with us!?? I'm trying to come up with something I'll actually stick to!)

Join us!

We'll be walking in the Race for the Cure again this year and are welcoming anyone to join us! We made this an annual event when Lenny and I got married 5 years ago, and I have recently made raising money for Breast Cancer Awareness a part of my business as well. Shoot us an email and we'll walk together!

Here are the pictures from last year... we go as a family every year... we welcome you all into our family on this special day... MOTHER'S DAY!

I have never lost anyone to Breast Cancer and thankfully have not had anyone in my immediate family affected by it, but I have seen the suffering around me through my friends and last year had a close call with my Aunt Debbie... This even is spectacular and we hope to see you there!

Footprints...

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”

It is not very often that I would use something like this to describe an on-the-job experience, but I have to share with you this past weekend's events. As anyone north of Pittsburgh knows, we had one heck of a snow storm Friday night and Saturday. Well, someone forgot to give Mother Nature the memo that Kati and Jordan were getting married in Butler!

Nervous as can be, and actually not feeling well at all, I headed out the door 2 hours early, just in case. As me and my husband discussed, the main roads would be fine, right? WRONG! I had less than 20 miles to go, and they were the worst 20 miles I have ever driven. Going uphill sucked cause I lost traction and burnt up my tires, going downhill sucked cause I kept sliding sideways and even going on flat spots proved to be a disaster. I got no more than 20 yards out of my private road and found myself in a ditch... but I had to keep going. So I did, I kept going. The further north I got, the worse the roads were. I really never saw a "road", just paths in the snow that I assumed I was to follow.

Fast forward to Butler (over 1.5 hours later)... about 1.5 miles from the church. 1.5 miles straight up a hill that is. I made it up most of the way, burning tire the whole way up. I'd take breaks every now and again, maybe back down a little to try to get a "run" on it. Made it up till I could see that it flattened out ahead. YAY! Just a little further... It was then that I lost all traction, was spinning everywhere. After I got a whiff of the rubber burning I gave up, 20 minutes into my hill climb. There was no way my little Chevy Malibu was making it any further... I mean, it really shouldn't have made it this far.

I made the call... yes the dreaded call to the bride. I explained to Kati that I was not far away and I was close enough that I would make it, but asked if she had someone with 4 wheel drive to come get me and I'd leave my car there. Now, most people aren't going to understand the embarrassment, and the disgust I felt in making this call, but for those who have been there and work in a field that people rely on you, especially on such an important day in their lives... and there is no "second take", I know you understand the feelings I had making this call.

Just as we were having this conversation, a SUV pulled up beside me. This beautiful woman asked "are you going to the wedding?". I WAS SAVED! It was Kati's Aunt Jodi and her husband (Rodger, I think). They had a car full of people, but she promised they'd come back. Completely skeptical, I turned around and headed back down the hill. I had to take the chance, cause I wasn't getting there on my own. I waited for a while... in tears the whole time... and there he was! He came back to get me and saved my day! He wound down his window and said, "are you ready to go!?" HECK YEAH I WAS!

The reason for this post is to first of all thank Aunt Jodi and her husband for helping out. But the even more important reason is to just mention to anyone out there that doing something so little as stopping to see if I needed help has touched me in a way I'll never forget. Most people wouldn't have even stopped... for that matter, they would have probably laughed as they passed me stranded in the snow. But not only did they stop, but to come back and get me... that was just.... heartwarming, amazing, as if God sent them to be the wings I needed to make it through the day. So as my set of "footprints in the snow" disappeared, they were then taken over by God and Kati's Aunt and Uncle, as they carried me up the hill.

Minus falling flat on my face at the reception (I still have the massive bruises to prove it), the day went great from there. I'm sure I'll post some sort of clip from this wedding, but for now... Thanks again to Kati's aunt and uncle, and Congratulations to Kati and Jordan!!!!

Like a fish!!!

Well, its been a while since I have taken a minute to show anything personal to my bloggers... here you go! This is a video that I took on my cell phone of my peanut Benjamin at his swim lessons. He is 3 1/2 years old and I must say... quite the swimmer! About every other lesson he just cries and won't do anything, but when he decides he wants to try... this kid can do just about anything! I even tought him yesterday how to DIVE!

Happy Mother's Day!

As a Brennan Tradition, we headed to Schenley Park this morning for the Race for the Cure. This is one of the most inspiring things that we do. To witness this number of people coming out to support the cure for breast cancer is just overwhelming. We got there kind of late this year and didn't get a chance to walk around to the booths. Its amazing with 2 kids we made it in time for the Race! We walked all 5k, pushing the double stroller. Then it started... rain the last mile or so! Its okay, we toughed it out cause "Mommy of the Year" forgot umbrella's or ponchos!! Hehe, I can't even get it right on Mother's Day!!!

We hit up Denny's in Monroeville on the way home for a yummy after-race breakfast. For the rest of the day... RELAXIN!!

If you were at the race today... we'd love to see your photos! Email them to us at contactus@dmbvideopgh.com and we'll post them here! Let us know who's in them too!!!

Getting Ready for Christmas!!!

We went on Tuesday for some Christmas Pictures for the kids. We decided to go back to Sears at Pittsburgh Mills and here is what we came up with!!!!

They really do love each other!

My little peanut, Benjamin! And my Princess Pea, Caitlyn... wow doesn't she look ornery
What a pair... we're gonna be in trouble when these 2 get older!
Love the giggles!

I think next year, we're gonna have one of our photographer friends take the pictures, but for this year, something made me go back to a studio. They did good though, especially considering how the kids were acting. Benjamin was all wound up and and every time we got Caitlyn set, she'd just get up and walk away. Now that she's walking, she doesn't want to stay still.

Just wanted to share some of our holiday fun!!! I'll post pictures of our Gingerbread House later!

Zoo Boo!

Yesterday, my husband and I took the kiddos to the Pittsburgh Zoo for their Halloween Zoo Boo event. It was really fun! We walked around to see all the animals... because they do it during the day now... and they had trick-or-treat stops along the way! The kids got all dressed up and had a blast.

They also had pumpkin painting and haunted houses too, but we had to skip out on that stuff. Benjamin was dressed in his Little Devil costume and Caitlyn was Tinkerbell. Enjoy the few pictures we took. I'll post more of them in their costumes after Wednesday... HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

VACATION - Myrtle Beach

I figure while I had a moment, I'd post a little about our recent vacation to Myrtle Beach. On September 15, after a 12 hour drive through the night (with 2 young children, one of which who's potty trained) we arrived at Sea Watch Plantation. We stayed in a 3 bedroom unit because my parents came along.

What a great time of year to go to the beach. The weather was still nice - cool at night - but because it was the off season, it was not nearly as busy! The resturaunts had no lines, the beach had pleanty of room, and even our condo was nice and quiet without any neighbors!!

We stayed for a week, went to a bunch of neat places to eat - Cheesburger in Paradise, Margaritaville, Hard Rock, Umbertos (a Pittsburgh owner), Giant Crab (seafood buffet). I loved going to Boardwalk at the Beach and shopping and we loved the Ripleys Aquarium. AND, while Caitlyn was napping, I actually got some video work done while we were there - not much, but some!! This place was great for a young family! Enjoy the photos!!
