Getting Caught Up!!

Well, this spring is starting to die down when it comes to weddings. Thankfully, I mailed out a package to Ashley and Tom yesterday with their wedding DVD's. I have started to set goals as to when I will mail out final videos, and I will be sticking to those goals. So for the brides out there waiting... things will be moving a little faster now! The next 2 are set to go out next Friday.

Its been difficult balancing being a stay-at-home-mom with a new business owner, but I have found a few happy mediums to handle the work load. I'll have a babysitter 2-3 days a week sit with the kids while I work, and have 3 evenings (minimum) set aside to edit. I love spending time on this part and through experience, I am learning to shoot to edit... meaning cutting out the "junk" that won't be used.

I'd say overall, this spring has gone fantastic!! Thanks again to all the wonderful people we have had the pleasure to work with!! Gotta cut this post short to head to Krystin and Jason's wedding! Packing the car now!!

June 23rd Wedding

This last minute affair took us to St James Church in Wilkinsburg for the wedding of Hilary and Adam. Hilary contacted us on Tuesday before, and thankfully we were available! We showed up and set all the cameras up (thanks to the help of the Father that married them, and his suggestions on placement), and then we did some shots of the groom and his groomsmen.

I met for the first time, Tiffany Kramer, their wedding planner. There were a few glitches in the plans and Tiffany was handling them wonderfully. Transportation ended up bringing the guests almost 45 minutes late for the ceremony, so obviously, things got pushed back a little. But no panic, it was handled, and the wedding went on.

Hilary showed up right behind the busses and the second she stepped out of the lime, there was a glow of beauty around us. She looked absolutely amazing! She walked down the aisle almost immediately after her arrival to meet her groom, Adam.

The ceremony went off without a hitch! I hung around for some of their formal photos, but this was a Ceremony Only package. I also had the pleasure to meet Liz and Jenn Bartos, and they were great to work with.

June 16th Wedding

Amie and Randy's wedding went off without a hitch! It took place at St. Colmans Church in Turtle Creak. A more modern Catholic Church, but a beautiful one. We set up and then got some formal shots of the guys. Amie arrived in the limo, so we went to wish her well and then the ceremony started. It was a very romantic touching ceremony and went beautifully.

After some more formal photos, we headed to Monroeville Community Park. The photos here went well, but I could tell that Amie and Randy were getting irritated by the delay in getting things going. They wanted to do something "fun", so I asked Randy if he thought his bride would take a ride down the playground slide. He asked and she agreed! So after a few more rounds of "boring" shots, off to the slide they went! It was fun. They are such a fun couple!

We then headed to the reception at the Raddison in Monroeville. The room looked great, perfectly decorated! Their reception was a blast, with DJ Eric (will post a link to his website soon) keeping the croud on their feet all night long. It was so much fun to watch him work and work with him!

Amie and Randy had a beautiful day and I look forward to editing their footage! Congrats and Thank you!!

June 10th Wedding

Today took us to the beautiful wedding of Mindi and Joe. The ceremony took place at Green Gables in Jennerstown. I don't think they could have had a more perfect backdrop! The weather was beautiful, the sky looked perfect, and even the ducks on the lake in the background added to the amazing scenery.

Mindi and her attendants were getting photos when I showed up. They looked beautiful. I really liked Joe and the groomsmen's tuxes. They had longer coats and looked really sharp.

After the ceremony and some formal photos, we headed to the Inclined Plane in Johnstown for some more pictures. What an awesome view!

The reception was held at the Holiday Inn in Johnstown. The food was good and the service was great as well. The DJ, Eric the DJ, played all night and had the croud on their feet! It was a tough night for Eric though, because it was on a Sunday, so the crowd cleared out quickly.

The video went well and I look forward to posting a clip to preview, as well as some photos. Thanks to Mindi and Joe for letting us share your special day!

June 2nd - Dance Recital

This weekend took us to a totally different event than we've ever done. I teach dance part time at a local dance studio, Sandy's House of Dance. We were hired to do a video of the end of the year recital. There were two shows, one at 2 and one at 6.

The day started kind of crazy. We were to run a live feed to the back stage dressing room. I was being provided the cables to do so, however one of the cables was not compatible with my camera! So, on to Best Buy I went to remedy the situation.

Once we arrived at Valley High School, I helped my husband, Lenny, set up the gear, then headed back stage to work that end of the job. Things went well, and overall I am very happy with the shoot... and I think the families of the children will be as well! This was Lenny's first job on his own and he did great. He got great video and was a tremendous help through out the day!

There were a few minor problems during the first show, when audience members knocked out the plug, and stopped the tape. Accidents do happen, and the "damage" was minimal. Live and Learn... I re-taped the cord so there was no way it was going to get pulled out! I think they are still trying to pull the duct tape off of the walls and floor! It worked though, no problems in the second show.

I enjoyed this type of work. It is quite relaxing when compared to wedding videography. Maybe a route to pursue in the future... next spring. I do love working with brides though, and will continue to focus my attention on them!
